Dr. James W. Smith
King, WI - Dr. James W. Smith, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI on Monday, February 7, 2011. Jim was born in Marshfield, WI on June 15, 1921. He attended Central State Teachers College and Marquette University as an undergraduate. In May of 1945 he graduated from Marquette University Dental School and then proudly entered the U.S. Navy. Jim returned to Milwaukee to marry the love of his life, Jeanne (Heyse) Smith on June 15, 1946 and took her to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii until his discharge in July, 1947 ( Lt. 1st Grade). They moved to Racine, WI where he practiced Dentistry, a profession he loved, for over 50 years. They enjoyed retirement in Sarasota, FL. Jim adored his family and always put them first. He loved flying, tennis, sailing and a good game of Bridge or Chess. Jim was blessed with many friends that he loved dearly. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, King, WI; Children, David (Barb) Smith, Sarasota, Fl, Deborah (Richard) Schoengarth, Appleton, WI, Dianne (Klaus) Kistler, Fort Mill, S.C., Dean Smith, Sarasota, FL, and Danielle Smith, Grand Rapids, MN; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held at the Wisconsin Veterans Home - Main Chapel at King, WI on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 1:00pm. Arrangements by Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, WI 715-258-4020.
