Earl R. Oppor
Waupaca, WI (Formerly of Ogdensburg)
age 83 - passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Crystal River Nursing Center in Waupaca. He was born on September 11, 1926 in the Township of Royalton, Waupaca County, WI, the son of Frank and Pearl (Miller) Oppor. He married Myra Terrio on October 3, 1947 in Waupaca.
Earl is survived by his wife; Myra, son; David (Melanie) Oppor of Ripon, daughter; Judy (Steve) Paulson of Ogdensburg, and two grandchildren; Jennifer Oppor of Ripon and Jacob Paulson of Ogdensburg. He is further survived by a brother Elmer (Anita) Oppor of Ogdensburg, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers.
Earl had been an automobile mechanic for Waupaca Motor Sales for 27 years. He had also worked as an automobile mechanic in Buffalo, WY, and in New London. Through the years Earl had many interests including fast pitch softball, dart ball, trap shooting, hunting, and fishing. He was a former member of the Ogdensburg Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years.He had also served as the Ogdensburg Village President. He was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the Green Bay Packers.
A funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Waupaca, WI on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Cathy Weigand, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Little Wolf Cemetery near Manawa, WI. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Humane Society of Waupaca County in memory of Earl R. Oppor. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
