I was 17 when my family moved to Virginia Lane in Menomonee Falls, WI. We were practically next door neighbors to Earl & Marion (there was a house between us). My life is a testimony in part to both of them for mentoring the younger years of my life. When I dropped out of college and was looking for a job, Marion suggested to my mom that I apply at the Telephone Company where Earl worked. I did, and was hired. I'm not sure why Earl took it upon himself to help me with my career, but he did, and I am so THANKFUL! He even assembled a small class to help some of us young fellows study for our FCC Radio-Telephone licenses. He taught us so well that I passed.! I was almost immediately promoted to a top technician position because I now had the qualifications. Sometime later when the Company wanted to promote me to be a supervisor, I wasn't so sure I was cut out to be a leader. Again Earl came alongside me and encouraged me to not look a gift horse in the mouth! I have to say too, that Marion was a good friend to my mom. After marrying my wife, my folks sold the Virginia Lane home & moved to Florida. My wife & I worked out a transfer to Houston & a job with SW Bell. I retired in 1991. I will be forever indebted to Earl & Marion for taking an interest in their young neighbor. They changed my life when it sorely needed direction & purpose! I would hope that the Lord God would give them both an exalted position in Heaven where I trust both are at this point. - Bob Christian
