Edna O. Riddle
DePere, WI Age 86 - died on Sunday, April 13, 2008 after a lingering illness. She was born on March 1, 1922 in the Township of Union, Waupaca County, WI, the daughter of William F. and Anne E. (Dallman) Pethke. Edna graduated from Manawa High School in 1939. She worked in Milwaukee during WW II for five years. She married Clarence O. Riddle on June 21, 1947 in Manawa, WI. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June 2007. They lived in Coggon, IA where Clarence coached and taught following their marriage. They then moved to Waupaca, WI where they lived for 47 years while Clarence was a coach and teacher, and later a school administrator. In 2001, they moved to DePere and resided their at the time of her death. Edna had been a homemaker. She was a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Waupaca and had been active with the women’s organizations in the church. She had also been a member of the Riverside Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, traveling, and playing cards. Her most important job in her life was raising her sons, and she loved spending time with her sons and her grandchildren. While living in DePere, she was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Green Bay. Edna is survived by her husband; Clarence, two sons; Rick (Connie) Riddle of Appleton, and Dennis (Suse Reinke) Riddle of DePere, 4 grandchildren; Trisha (Steve) Lange and Chad (Katrina) Riddle, both of Appleton, Anne Riddle, attending UW-Madison, and Jeffrey Riddle, attending Luther College in Decorah, IA, 3 great grandchildren; Evan and Erica Lange, and Ellie Riddle, six brothers; Edwin Pethke, Alvin (Alice) Pethke, Arthur (Ardella) Pethke, Walter (Elaine) Pethke, and Marvin (June) Pethke, all of Manawa, Melvin (Rosetta) Pethke of Iola, and a sister; Ruby (Elmer) Piotter of Manawa. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; William and Anne Pethke, and two brothers; William Pethke, Jr and Ervin Pethke. A funeral service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Symco, WI at 2:30 PM. Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the evening, and at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Memorials can be directed to Lutheran World Relief in the name of Edna Riddle. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
