Edward E. Bertotto's Obituary
Edward E. Bertotto, age 82, of Plainfield, WI passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point, WI. Edward was born in Bancroft, WI on September 9, 1932, the son of the late Edward and Merilla (Sherman) Bertotto. On February 9, 1952 Ed married Mae Neumann at St. John's Lutheran Church in Almond. Edward served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed at the Union Telephone Company retiring at 62 and then spent winters in Florida, wishing he still had his riding horses which he had from the age of 16. Ed was very active in the church, being a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, an usher, helping out with funeral services and president of the congregation. He was active in the community, lighting for the football field, helping and being in the school plays and in later years, supplying and fixing things for their children's years in school. Ed loved repairing things from shoes to saddles and wood carving was his latest hobby.
Ed is survived by his wife: Mae Bertotto, Plainfield; his children: Pamela Jakubiak, Duluth, MN; Patricia (Daniel) Hutkowski, Plainfield; Brian Keith (Laura) Bertotto, Fernly, NV; Paul (Jeanette) Bertotto, Richmond, KY; Christine (James) Fazen, Wautoma and Michael (Andrea) Bertotto, Chilton; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; his sister: Barbara (Robert) Fox, Plainfield and brothers: Jackie (Jeanette) Bertotto, Almond and Llewellyn (Louise) Bertotto, Kellner, WI. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Louis and a sister-in-law, Becky.
The Christian Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 11 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, Almond with Reverend Brian Roehrborn, officiating. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5 to 8 PM at the church and also on Saturday morning from 10 AM until the time of services. Burial with military rites will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Hardell-Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
