Edward Peterson's Obituary
Edward John Peterson was born April 24, 1921 in the Township of Lind, Waupaca County to the late John and Iona (Gloede) Peterson. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kidd during WW II. He married Doris Nelson from Saxeville, WI on February 7, 1943. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2006.
Eddie farmed in the Lind Center area for many years. He worked at Filter Materials in Waupaca from 1951 until his retirement in 1983. After his retirement he made wooden road signs for the Chain O’ Lakes home owners, and was a handyman around the Waupaca area.
Eddie was an avid sportsman enjoying deer hunting, fishing, and golf. He looked forward to going to Canada every year with his son Gary and his fishing buddies. He was proud to have one of his Walleye’s displayed at JR’s Sportsmen’s Bar in Waupaca. Eddie loved the Packers and the Brewers. He liked collecting fishing poles and old fishing tackle. He was also a coin collector. He enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.
Eddie and Doris were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca and he had served as an usher for many years.
Eddie is survived by his son; Gary Peterson, daughter; Carol (Joe) Wutkevicz, four granddaughters; Kelly Peterson, Keri Joslin, Jodi Young, and Nicole (Jeff) Berrens, four great grandchildren; Chloe, Jessica, Ashley, and Alex, and four great great grandchildren; Nevaeh, Ethan, Alex, Jr, and Alexis, a sister; Lois Button, a brother; Russell (IIene) Peterson, sister-in-law; Iona Peterson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; LaVerne (Jack) and Hazel Madson,and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; Doris, his parents, a brother; John, sister and brother-in-law; Gladys and Charles Gyrion, step-brother and step-sister-in-law; Loyal and Alvera Peterson, brother-in-law; LaVerne Button, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Adolph and Fern Nackers, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Maynard and Inez Nelson, brothers-in-law; Morris, Kenneth, and Lloyd Nelson, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Beatrice and Alfred Rose.
A funeral service will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Andy Behrendt, Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, WI. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
