Eileen Marie Bartig's Obituary
Eileen Marie Bartig, age 67, passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at her Stevens Point, WI home. Eileen was born on March 20, 1956, to Frank and Elaine Jankowski at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Eileen was the oldest of 5 children. The Jankowski family relocated to Amherst Junction, WI, in 1972. Eileen graduated from Amherst High School in 1974. She met her future husband, Dennis Bartig, while living in Eugene, CO and they were married at the Riverside Bible Camp, Amherst, on April 16, 1977. After marriage, they moved to Nelsonville, WI, where they raised two wonderful daughters, Jessica Jayne and Allison Lynn. Eileen loved rock collecting, reading, movies, theatre, sewing, and crafts. She designed beautiful cards that she sent as “real mail” to family and friends. She crocheted afghans for her daughters, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren. She participated in community theater and improv. She enjoyed traveling, particularly to the west and northwest, especially via Amtrak. However, what Eileen enjoyed most was spending time with her daughters and four amazing grandchildren. Together they enjoyed going out to dinner, watching movies, taking trips and laughing together. Eileen attended UW-Stevens Point, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006. Eileen worked as a computer lab coordinator at UWSP.
Eileen is preceded in death by her husband Dennis, parents Frank and Elaine, brother James Jankowski, and godfather Aye Jaye. She is survived by her daughters Jessica Bartig-Kochanowski, Stevens Point, and Allison Bartig, Nelsonville; grandchildren Josiah, Vivian, Reuben and Jude Kochanowski, Stevens Point; and sisters Doreen (Steve) Larson, Appleton; Maxeen (Mark) Olson, Amherst; and Christeen (Frank) Wileman, Winston, OR.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 28, 2023 at 1 P.M. at the Amherst Opera House, 207 N Main St., Amherst, WI 54406.
Eileen is loved and cherished in our hearts and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. The family will plan a service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
