Eileen L. (Makuski) Peplinski's Obituary
Eileen L. (Makuski) Peplinski, age 88, of Stevens Point, WI, formerly of Amherst, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on February 6, 1936, in Milwaukee, WI, Eileen was the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Hackbarth) Kurtz. She grew up with a strong sense of family and community, values that would guide her throughout her life.
On October 9, 1954, Eileen married Edward Makuski, with whom she shared a devoted partnership and the joy of raising six children. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter. Edward passed away on February 21, 2000, leaving a legacy of cherished memories.
A few years later, Eileen found love again and married Robert Peplinski on April 9, 2005, in Amherst. They shared a rich and meaningful chapter of life together living in Stevens Point until Robert's passing on January 23, 2016.
Eileen’s life was a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of her passions and talents. She was an accomplished quilter, creating beautiful works of art that reflected her creativity and care. An avid cribbage player, square dancer, an enthusiast of crossword puzzles and word searches, she approached every activity with warmth and enthusiasm. She delighted in cheering on the Milwaukee Bucks from her favorite chair but found her greatest joy in the company of her children and grandchildren. Time spent with them was her truest treasure.
Eileen's loving spirit, gentle wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her family will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the countless lives she touched.
Eileen is survived by her children Mark (Cindy) Makuski of Osseo, David (Carol) Makuski of Ogdensburg, Steve Makuski of Amherst Jct., James (Carrie) Makuski of Stevens Point, and Suzi (Cary) Literski of Amherst; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters Delores Knudson of Pewaukee and Barbara Garske of Amherst; a sister-in-law Cathy Kurtz of Milwaukee; and also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Elizabeth Kurtz; her first husband Edward Makuski; her second husband Robert Peplinski; a son Robert Makuski; two grandsons Travis Makuski and Carson Makuski; one brother James Kurtz; two sisters and their husbands Lois (Jerome) Daniels and Joyce (Tony) Cottone; and a brother-in-law Richard Garske.
A Funeral Mass for Eileen will be on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst, WI. Father Jerzy Rebacz will preside. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will take place at St. James parish cemetery following the mass on Friday. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
