Elaine E. Hansen's Obituary
Elaine E. Hansen, age 95, of Waupaca, WI, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Park Vista – The Legacy in Waupaca. She was born September 8, 1925 in Oshkosh, WI; daughter of Owen Sr. and Emma (Ruhl) Augsburger. On April 17, 1948, Elaine married Kermith Hansen in Iola and together they shared 54 years of marriage before his passing on April 25, 2002. After high school, Elaine put herself through nursing school and was a registered nurse for 40 years with Dr. John Steiner in Waupaca. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed “tweaking” recipes to make them her own. Elaine was an avid golfer and both her and Kerm enjoyed their time spent at the Waupaca County Club. She was a smart, creative and independent woman who enjoyed a very social life with her many friends. Elaine was a loving wife, caring mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all of her loving family and friends.
Elaine is survived by her two children, Jennifer (Thomas) McHugh of Middleton, WI and Thomas (Lynn) Hansen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; two granddaughters, Sarah (Michael) Davenport of Waunakee, WI and Emily (Nick) Nellis of Waunakee, WI; four great-grandchildren, Josie, Kyla, Mya, and Nathan; one brother, Owen Jr. (Ann) Augsburger of Neshkoro, WI; and also by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Sr. and Emma Augsburger; her husband, Kermith Hansen; and a sister, Kathleen Grant.
A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI. Reverend Andy Behrendt will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. We sincerely encourage the wearing of masks and that physical distancing is observed. Burial will take place at Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca following the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Theda Care at Home Hospice of Waupaca. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
