ELAINE MARIE (PETERSEN) MCCROSSEN
WAUPACA, WISCONSIN
FORMERLY OF STERLING, ILLINOIS
Age 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI. She was born on December 11, 1921 in the Town of Lind, Waupaca Co., WI; daughter of Irving and J. Margaret (Pedersen) Petersen. On November 7, 1946, Elaine married Fred McCrossen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca and together they shared 47 years of marriage before his passing on December 28, 1993. She and Fred made Sterling, IL their home for many years, working together in Fred’s business where she did the bookkeeping. Elaine was an avid bridge player. She also was an excellent crocheter and had donated many afghans to the Sterling area Red Cross, as well as prayer shawls to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling. Elaine used her sewing talents to make Barbie Doll clothes for her nieces, pillowcase dolls for family and friends, and several quilts. She enjoyed fishing and traveling with her husband, Fred, through the years. Elaine loved a great party and made wonderful memories at their cottage on the Oconto River and in their home in Sterling. She was a current member of the Elks. Elaine will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
Elaine is survived by her sister-in-law: Gladys Petersen; nieces and nephews: Jane (Robert) Olson, Carol (Marv) Eggert, David Petersen, Karen (Glen) Furst, Sue (Todd) Bundies, Kathy Wege, Daniel (Sandy) Petersen, and Steven (Mary) Petersen; cousins: Muriel Gross, Mary Ann (Gordon) Kirchoff, Dennis (Sandy) Pedersen, Kenneth Pedersen, and Warren (Pat) Peterson; and also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Margaret Petersen, and three brothers, Harry (Evelyn) Petersen, Phillip (Elizabeth) Petersen, and Irving Petersen.
A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. Pastor Jennifer DeNetz will officiate. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rural Cemetery in the Town of Dayton following the service on Wednesday. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
