Elizabeth Castona's Obituary
Elizabeth G. Castona, age 83, of LaFarge, WI., formerly of Stevens Point, passed away on Sunday, February 5th, 2006 at her residence. She was born in the Town of Greenfield, Milwaukee Co., WI. on June 26, 1922, a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Lang) Nemeth. She married Hudson Castona on February 11, 1949 in West Allis. He preceded her in death on October 17, 1968. Elizabeth worked at Allis Chalmers Supercharge plant during W.W. II as a machinist. After marrying Hudson, they moved to Amherst and farmed in the area for 17 years. She then worked at Vetters Manufacturing Co. After Hudson died, she moved back to Milwaukee, then retired and moved to Stevens Point. She was part of the Foster Grandmother program for 23 years as a volunteer for Stevens Point schools. She also worked and was involved in the cause for Vietnam Veterans and was strongly politically wise for what she believed. She enjoyed raising plants, collecting clowns and carved extinct animals. Her greatest enjoyment was being able to work in the Foster Grandparent Program with disadvantaged children and young teenage parents. She is survived by 2 Children: Gary Castona, LaFarge, WI; Fay Simplot, West Milwaukee, WI; 2 Step-Children: Gene Castona, Wittenberg, WI; Joan (Jack) Daines, LaFarge, WI; 12 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband - Hudson, 3 sons, 1 daughter, 1 grandson, a sister and a half brother. Funeral Services will be held at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 9th. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 until 7 PM at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst.
