Elizabeth Eastman's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth E. Eastman, 91, and Mr. Eugene H. Eastman, 89, have gone home to be with their Lord and Savior. Elizabeth passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007. Eugene followed her home on Monday, January 7, 2008. Both died of natural causes at the Valencia Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lakeland, FL. Elizabeth was born in Almond, Wisconsin on July 25, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Alfred & Sylvia (Piper) Von Gunten. Eugene was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin on June 23, 1918. He was the son of the late Fred & Gladys (Wilkins) Eastman. Elizabeth and Eugene began their marriage of almost 63 years on November 18, 1944. They were loving parents, adoring grandparents, and very proud great-grandparents. Elizabeth and Eugene are survived by their children: Judith (Norman) Muschaweck of Lakeland, FL, Kaye (Robert) Koeferl of Germantown, WI, Mary Jane (William) Brawand of Rowlett, TX , Valerie Hammond of Berlin, WI and Gregory (Lynda) Eastman of Rowlett, TX. They are further survived by twelve grandchildren: Brian (Kristine) Parkins, Gabrielle (Pete) Halpin, Monica Koeferl, Heather (Scott) Barrow, David (Monica) Mann, Matthew Brawand, Christa Wilson, Asheley (Perry) Casarez, Adam (Katherine) Mann, Brittany Koeferl, Valya Eastman, Veronica Eastman and fourteen great-grandchildren: Ashley, Brenna and Kelsey Parkins, Alex, Brady, and Nathan Halpin, Tyler Wilkinson and Scott and Riley Barrow, Mackenzie & Elliot Mann, Angela Casarez and Tanis and Audrey Mann. Elizabeth is survived by her youngest sister, Jane McMorries of Seal Beach, CA. Eugene is survived by his brother, Wayne (Patricia) Eastman of Sturgeon Bay, WI. They are also mourned by sisters-in-law Grace Von Gunten, & Ellen Eastman, Brother-in-law Lee Trinrude, and by many nieces, nephews, and a multitude of other loving relatives and dear friends. Elizabeth was preceded in death by parents Alfred and Sylvia, sisters Vivian (Henry) Burosse and Dorothy (Chris) Schroeder, and brothers Lloyd (Grace) Von Gunten and Raymond (Jean) Von Gunten. Eugene was preceded in death by parents Fred and Gladys, sisters Ruth (Art) Otto, Francis (Aaron) Peterson, Alice (Lee) Trinrude, Brother Robert (Ellen) Eastman. Eugene and Elizabeth lived several places in their 63 years of marriage. They started out in Waupaca, followed closely by Nekoosa, Scandinavia, Lind Center, and then to Milwaukee where they resided for 29 years. Eugene worked for Downing Box until 1960, and then for Mead Container until his retirement in 1980. Elizabeth held various jobs in the 30’s and 40’s, but was most proud of her work in the defense plants during WWII. She was a full time wife and mother after marring Eugene. Upon retiring, Elizabeth and Eugene moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, moving to Lakeland, FL in the summer of 1993. Elizabeth and Eugene made friends wherever they lived, and managed to keep all their relationships strong through the years. Their love of God, family, friends, good food, a game of cards, dancing, baseball and football are just some of what we will all remember. A memorial service was held at 2:00 pm Friday on August 31 2007 at the Valencia Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center, 1350 Sleepy Hill Rd, Lakeland, FL for Elizabeth. A joint memorial service will be held at Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca Wisconsin on July 13, 2008 at 3:30 PM celebrating the life of Eugene and Elizabeth Eastman.
