Elizabeth M. Wenberg's Obituary
Elizabeth M. (Beth) Wenberg, age 95, of DePere and Waupaca passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at Heartland Hospice in Menasha Beth was born in Town of Byron, WI on January 19, 1912, the daughter of the late Dr. W. G. and Katherine L. Clark. Beth graduated from Marinette High School in 1931. She entered Lawrence University (Conservatory of Music) in the fall of 1931. While there, she met her future husband, Herbert Wenberg of Oneida, WI. They were married following their graduation on June 10, 1935. Beth and Herbert lived in De Pere for 33 years. They later retired in 1970 and moved to their retirement home on the Chain O' Lakes in Waupaca. While in De Pere, Herbert was Vice President of Nicolet Paper Company and Beth was Director of the De Pere Symphonette in the 1940's as well as Director of the Choir at the De Pere Presbyterian Church where she and Herbert were active members. Beth taught music in the De Pere School System for several years, and also gave private piano lessons in her home. She continued to give private piano lessons in Waupaca for several years. Beth was a member of the Green Bay AAUW as well as the Eastern Star in De Pere. While living in Waupaca, Beth and Herbert were members of the First United Methodist Church. Beth has spent the last several years living at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home in Menasha. Beth is survived by her children: Edwin (Judy) Wenberg of Warsaw, MO; Barbara French of DePere; David (Brenda) Wenberg of Waupaca; Jean (Roger) Bara of Peru, IL; Mary (Randy) White of La Salle, IL and William (Linda) Wenberg of Neenah; seventeen grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive. Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, her son Thomas, two sons in law, Wayne French and Richard Cady and two sisters, Katherine and Dorothy. Funeral Service will be on Friday, Dec. 28 at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church in Waupaca with Reverend Michael Weigand, officiating. Interment will be in the Spring at Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca. Visitation will be on Friday morning from 9 AM until the time of services at the church. In leiu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Herbert & Elizabeth Wenberg Scholarship Fund at Lawrence University. The family wishes to express deepest gratitude to the staff members of Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice for their care of our mother over the past several years.
