Elsie Button-Breitzman's Obituary
Elsie L. Button-Breitzman, age 85, went to heaven on Monday, November 24, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. Elsie was a resident at Lakeview Manor in Weyauwega and before that had resided at Bethany Home. Elsie was born on July 12, 1923 at the home of her parents, Arnold A. and Alma (Nelson) Christiansen, in the Town of Springwater, Waushara County. She lived most of her life in and around the Waupaca area.
She was married first to Glenn Button in Waupaca on December 21, 1944. They were divorced in 1970. On March 28, 1981, she married Louis B. Breitzman in Waupaca and he preceded her in death March 20, 1993.
Elsie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked in Waupaca as a janitor at the Waupaca Middle School and as a housekeeper at Riverside Hospital and the Best Western Grand Seasons. She will be remembered for her home cooking, holiday get-togethers with family and friends, her hand-made quilts, and planning and organizing so many past family reunions.
Survivors include her children - Richard Button of Bryson City, NC; Diane (Gary) Docka of Plover, WI; William (Mildred) Button of Dousman, WI; Rebecca (Richard) Culton of Amherst; and Michael Button of Weyauwega, WI, ten grandchildren - Veronica (Christopher) Lewis of Bryson City, NC; Donna (Kevin) Laughlin of San Francisco, CA; Dean (Fiance' LeAnn) Peterson of Plover, WI; Dale (Melissa) Peterson of Waukesha, WI; Charles Gruber of Appleton, WI; Jesse Weasner (special friend, Chrissy) of Waupaca; Shari and Eric Schoohs of Waupaca; and Jordan and Jacob Button of Weyauwega, WI and six great grandchildren - Richard Tamayo, Trevis Button, Kurstin (Philip) Carroll all of Bryson City, NC; Jenna Laughlin of San Francisco, CA; Nicole Worzalla-Peterson of Plover, WI and Joshua Peterson of Waukesha, WI. She is further survived by two sisters - Stella Barrington of Normal, IL and Marie Anklam of Neenah, WI, a sister-in-law - Ellen Christensen of Waupaca; and special friends - Oscar Berge, Beatrice Peters, Carol Strike, along with other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald, a daughter-in-law, Goldia Button, a granddaughter, Vinassa Tamayo, a great granddaughter, Destinee Tamayo and a great grandson, Kenny Herron Jr., three brothers - Edwin, Lawrence and Alvin Christianson, her sisters and brothers-in-law - Ethel and Robert Evans, Agnes and Peter Quinn, Doris and Lester Barrington, and Hannah and Ken Robbins, brothers-in-law - Howard Barrington and Gilbert Anklam.
The Memorial Service will be Friday, November 28 at 1 PM at Bethany Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Lueders, officiating. Visitation will take place from 12 Noon until the time of the service at Bethany Chapel. Burial will be in the Crystal Lake Cemetery, Town of Dayton, Waupaca County. Holly Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. MANY, MANY THANKS to all Lakeview Manor, Bethany Home, and Riverside Medical Center employees for taking such good care of Elsie.
