Emma M. Pommerenke
Waupaca, WI Age 99 - died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Waupaca Elder Care Home. She was born on April 10, 1910 in the Township of Lind, Waupaca County, WI, the daughter of Robert E. and Ida (Schmandt) Pommerenke. Emma is survived by a sister; Norma Mallison of Waupaca, a sister-in-law; Verna Pomerenke of Waupaca, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers; Albert, John, Edgar, Gustave, Henry, and Arthur, and two sisters; Mollie Lemke and Sophia Lemke. Emma was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She had worked for the Buckstaff Casket Company in Oshkosh from 1942 until her retirement in 1972. While living in Oshkosh she was a member of the Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church. Following her retirement she moved back to the family farm in the Township of Belmont, Portage County and remained there until she became a resident of the Waupaca Elder Care Home in 1999. She enjoyed sewing and had made many quilts and articles of clothing. A funeral service will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM, with Vicar Brian Roehrborn, St. John’s Lutheran Church – Almond, WI, officiating. Interment will be in the Hatton Cemetery in the Township of Lind, Waupaca County. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements. The family of Emma Pommerenke would like to thank the staff of Waupaca Elder Care Home for the loving care and compassion shown Emma while she was a resident there.
