Ernest Leslie Jenner's Obituary
E. Les Jenner, age 86, of Waupaca, WI, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Park Vista Retirement Living. Les was born in Waupaca on June 27, 1922, the son of the late Fredrick E. and Lenora (Stuehmer) Jenner. On November 12, 1949, Les married Arlene Johnson in Scandinavia, WI. and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2000. Les was commissioned on December 24, 1943 in the US Army Air Force, serving as a navigator during WWII. He flew 32 combat missions in a B-24 and B-17. After the war, he served in the US Air Force as a navigator and meteorologist, retiring in 1968 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Returning to Waupaca, he trained as an emergency medical technician and was the manager for Holly Ambulance Service. Les was very instrumental in bringing the paramedic ambulance service we have today in Waupaca. He enjoyed many passions, including photography, collecting and repairing clocks, reading, traveling and his computers. His real love was golf and he was thrilled to celebrate a hole-in-one on the 7th hole at Waupaca Country Club. His favorite meal was breakfast and he loved to meet his friends as often as he could at Cronies. Les was a past President and a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Les is survived by his children: Tom (Linda) Jenner, Waupaca; Kathy Jenner, Waupaca and Maryann (Steve D'Amanda) Jenner, Waupaca, his granddaughter: Stephanie Jenner, Waupaca and other relatives and many friends. Les was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Fred Jenner Jr. The Funeral Service will be on Friday, May 1 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca with Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. Military Graveside Services will follow at Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 4 to 7 PM at Holly Funeral Home and on Friday morning from 10 AM until the time of services at the church. The Jenner family would like to extend special gratitude and thanks to the friends and staff at Park Vista Retirement Living for their care, love and compassion. Les considered them his second family.
