Ethel Guyant's Obituary
Ethel (Olson) Guyant of Amherst passed away on Sunday, October 15. She was 91
years old and the widow of Gerald (Socker) Guyant. Ethel was preceded in
death by brothers, Oscar and Gerhart, and sisters Ora Kubisiak, Edna Matson,
and Carol June Winters. Her son Jerry (Cindy) Guyant lives in Richmond, Virginia, and her daughter Bonnie (Frank) Pacocha lives in Amherst. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Frank John Pacocha, Amherst, Michael Pacocha, Traverse City, Michigan, Kathy Pacocha, Loveland, Colorado, and step granddaughter Nicole Yates, Atlanta, Georgia. Ethel has 5 loving great-grand-children. After graduating from Waupaca High School, Ethel attended Stevens Point Normal School. She and (Socker) owned and operated GEE-GEE Produce, a wholesale and retail egg, butter and cheese business. Because of (Socker's) poor health, they sold GEE-GEE and opened an antique and resale shop in Amherst, calling it the Poke-N-Hope. Ethel continued to run the shop for many years after her husbands death in 1970. Ethel was an avid walker and loved her morning walks! Right up until about 3 months ago you could still see her walking along the streets in Amherst enjoying a beautiful day!. Next to that, a piece of fresh rhubarb pie at
the cafe in Iola was pretty much heaven. Of course, she cherished visits with her children, grand children and great grand children, and drives in the countryside, looking for deer in the fields or reminiscing about the old family farm. For 55 years Ethel was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. A Memorial service, celebrating her life, will be held there on Thursday, October 19th at 10:30 a.m. Visiation will be from 9:00-10:30 A.M. at the church. Following, the service, please join the family in the church social hall for a reception. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your favorite charity or to the Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund.
