Hello all you Sorenson’s, and friends and family of Gene.
So very sorry for your loss. It seems it’s harder when both parents are gone. Some level of protection and comfort Leave us.
I Love all of you that I grew up with and always will. There are way too many memories that are now all wonderful. Gene was a very good hearted man for a scientist. I’m grateful for all the quiet works he did often behind the scenes.
God, I’m sure, is very pleased with this strong, but humble Christian.
I hope you all find peace in our able to rejoice in the wonderful life of Gene Sorenson.

Dear Mark, M.J., Stephen, Barbara, Sonja and the whole Sorenson Family,
We are so sorry to hear Mr. Sorenson has passed away, both Tom and I had your father as a teacher and coach at Little Wolf High School in Manawa. What fond memories we have of your father, he was always so well liked and calm and cool. I remember staying at your home so many, many times and always admiring your independent family. I fondly remember your Mom having ladies over for coffee and visiting at your island in the kitchen, with always something yummy to snack on from the Bakery downtown. While your Dad was out for a run on the track behind the high school or riding his bike to stay in outstanding shape. We are so grateful to have those wonderful memories, from school to church to the wrestling mat! Over the years I have often thought of those early biology classes that lead me to my medical career, I’m ever so grateful for his teaching skills and patience with all the many students that he taught over the years. I’m sure he is now in a better place and again visiting with your Mother.

Very heartfelt condolences to the family, which I shared a lot of my life with. First of all, Lois was a teacher of mine and my cheerleading coach in Manawa. Gene was a teacher and coach of my first husband. After I was married Gene and Lois became my neighbors up by the high school in Manawa. The girls would help with my kids and the boys sometimes helped Dan with chores. What a wonderful family to have as neighbors. Many "tea" parties on the lawn of 401 High St and at our homes. When they moved away from Manawa and bought the Crystal River Bed and Breakfast, two friends and I worked the bed and breakfast for them so that they could get away camping in Door County for a few weekends. Much time passed. Many years. Lois passed away when we were up in Alaska working, so I did not keep up with everybody for quite a few years.
Now, we are building a home in Rural. Gene rode his bike to the lot a couple of times and we visited him a couple of times. He saId, "you better hurry up and build if you want to be my neighbor". We were very much looking forward to being his neighbor and visiting some more and hopefully visiting with their children also. Well, we dug the hole, but that is far as we got, Gene.
Now, Gene is gone from Rural. Lois is gone from Rural. Jeanne (Thurk) O'Brien is gone from Rural. (She was a friend from high school and also a cheerleader with me under Lois). I will sure have lots of memories of all of you while I live there, but will sure miss you all.
