Eugene A. Schierland's Obituary
Eugene A. Schierland, age 95, of Fremont, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Crossroads Care Center in Weyauwega, WI. He was born October 21, 1923 in Fremont, WI; son of Albert M. and Bena K. (Schneider) Schierland. On September 2, 1949, Eugene married Helen Farris and together they shared 59 years of marriage before her passing on February 24, 2009. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. For 13 years, both Eugene and Helen owned and operated Schierland’s Anchor Inn Bar in Tustin, WI. He also served as the Tustin Fire Chief for many years and was a member of the Schreiner’s in both Florida and Wisconsin for close to 20 years. Eugene enjoyed polkas, playing cards and dice games, hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed by all of his loving family and friends.
Eugene is survived by his three children, Kathryn (Gordon) Andersen of Poy Sippi, WI, Raymond (Judy) Schierland of Poy Sippi, WI, and Robert Schierland of Waupaca, WI; grandchildren, Vicki (Paul) Salzgeber of Menasha, WI, Michael Rew of Mesa, AZ, Rebecca (Mike) Kamps of Appleton, WI, Jerry (Emily) Schierland of Menasha, WI, and Edward (Angelina) Schierland of Orlando, FL; great-grandchildren, Trevor Matulle of Menasha, WI, Trent Cox of Oshkosh, WI, Ella, Samuel, and James Schierland of Menasha, WI, and Joey Schierland of Orlando, FL; step-granddaughters, Karyn (Derek) Barboza of MA and Jennifer (Matt) Maxted of Columbus, MT; and step-great-grandchildren, Aiden Barboza of MA and Randy and Emily Davis of Columbus, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bena Schierland; his wife, Helen Schierland; and a step-daughter, Penelope Dann.
A Memorial Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Poy Sippi, WI followed by a private family memorial service. Burial will be at the Wolf River Cemetery in the Town of Wolf River at a later date. The Holly Funeral Home of Poy Sippi is assisting the family with arrangements.
