Eugene A. Uhl, Jr's Obituary
Eugene A. Uhl, Jr., age 67, of Amherst, WI passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Eugene was was born at Weaver's Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota on April 24, 1948, the son of Eugene A. and Mildred (Pomerenke) Uhl Sr. After high school, he joined the US Army serving from 1968 to 1970. On November 7, 1970, he married Joan Smith in Clintonville. Eugene worked at Madison Silo, drove school bus for the Tomorrow River School District and in March of 1976 started working at the Waupaca Foundry until retiring in 2001. He enjoyed watching the Packers, fishing, hunting, camping, anything outdoors and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He is a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Amherst VFW Post.
Eugene is survived by his wife: Joan Uhl, Amherst; daughters: Cheryl (Marty) Andersen, Amherst; Charity (Rodney Konkol) Uhl, Amherst and Chastity (Earl) Walker, Stevens Point; his grandchildren: Alexander Wardall; Elizabeth & Haley Andersen; Thomas & Christopher Andersen; Courtney, Emma & John Walker; Jase Bussian and Thomas Jay Anthony III; his mother: Mildred Uhl, Amherst; his siblings: Jeffery (Sandy) Uhl, Amherst; Terry (Jerry Burns) Uhl, Ellenton, FL; Gary (Lyn) Burns, Menasha, WI; Special Niece: Toni Bussian; Special Nephews: Johann & James Bussian and a special friend, Jerry Miller. He is also survived by countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; a son, Sgt. Eugene Uhl III; his in-laws, Donald & Shirley Smith; Grandparents, John & Grace Pomerenke; Carl & Gertrude Uhl; his sister, June Lauersdorf; sister-in-laws, Barbara Gollnow & Holly Smith and brother-in-laws, David & Jeffrey Smith. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, February 29 at 11 AM at St. James Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Dan Hackel, presiding. Military Graveside Services will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Amherst. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home and also on Monday morning from 10 AM until the time of mass at the church.
