Eugene S. Vance
King, WI (Formerly of Menasha, WI) age 83 - died on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI. He was born on September 13, 1926 in South Milwaukee, WI, the son of Albert and Mary (Olinger) Vance. He married Lorraine E. Skrobiszewski on September 14, 1946 in South Milwaukee. She preceded him in death in 1996.
Eugene is survived by his daughter, Deborah Sawall (Life Mate: Steven Donaldson) of North Fort Myers, FL, grandchildren: Martha Sawall of Raleigh, NC, Jacob Sawall of Stevens Point, WI, and Timothy Sawall of Milwaukee, WI, sister, Marie Van Kirk of Arkansas, brother, Albert Vance of Arizona, brother-in-law; Edward Skrobiszewski of Florida, and sister-in-law; Lucille Micoliczyk of Sheboygan Falls, WI. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, a grandson, David Sawall, his parents, and two brothers; Charles and Robert Vance.
Eugene had served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II. He was very proud to be a Marine and had been awarded the Purple Heart. He had been employed as an ink chemist working for paper companies in the Fox Valley. He had a number of interests including kite flying, bike riding, playing Bingo, and fishing. He especially enjoyed the time he could spend with his grandchildren. Eugene had also done volunteer work at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah, WI. He became a resident of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King in October of 2004.
A funeral service will be held at the Main Chapel of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 1:30 PM, with Chaplain Rich Engle, officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Memorial Park in Oak Creek, WI. A visitation will be held at the Main Chapel at King, WI on Tuesday from 12:30 - 1:30 PM. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
