Age 78 – died on Monday, July 4, 2011 at the Crystal River Nursing Facility in Waupaca. She was born on September 8, 1932 in Amherst, WI, the daughter of Clayton and Mabel (Soper) Allen.
Evelyn is survived by her sisters; Rowena Vickery of Glendale, CA, and Audrey Allen of St. Augustine, FL, her brother; Clayton (Ruth) Allen of Waupaca, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Evelyn was a life long member of St. Olaf’s Episcopal Church in Amherst. She had been employed with the Allen-Bradley Company in Milwaukee for many years before retiring and moving back to Amherst. Her interests included crafting and making things for craft and bake sales, gardening and potting plants. She was also an avid cat lover.
A memorial service will be held at St. Olaf’s Episcopal Church in Amherst, WI on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 5:00 PM, with Father Nigel Bousfield, officiating. Interment will be in the Lower Amherst Cemetery in Amherst, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to St. Olaf's Episcopal Church in the name of Evelyn M. Allen. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
