Evelyn R. Plowman's Obituary
Evelyn R. Plowman, 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
Evelyn was born on November 23, 1958, at Queen's Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Wilbur "Web" and Joyce Plowman (Trevean). She was baptized on May 10, 1959, at Camp Smith Chapel in Honolulu. As the daughter of a United States Marine, Evelyn spent her childhood traveling to many different states, attending schools across the country before her family eventually settled in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
She was confirmed at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids and attended Lincoln High School. Evelyn later continued her education at Nicolet College in Rhinelander, where she earned her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. She began her nursing career at St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander before dedicating many years of compassionate service to the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, where she completed her career. While working at King, Evelyn formed many lasting friendships, including a cherished friendship with Marge Dueber, and was blessed to work alongside many wonderful coworkers.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Evelyn became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupaca, where she was actively involved in the Ladies Aid, Senior Bible Study, and numerous church activities. Through her church family, she found lasting friendships and a community she deeply treasured.
One of Evelyn's lifelong blessings was her friendship with Pam (Virgil) Berndt (Lieber), whom she met while attending West Junior High School in Wisconsin Rapids. Their friendship remained strong throughout the years.
Above all, Evelyn loved her family. She especially cherished spending time with her nieces, nephews, and the younger generations who brought her so much joy.
Evelyn is survived by her loving mother, Joyce Plowman; her sisters, Deborah Le, Cathy Koepke, Laurie (Dave) Klieforth, and Patty (Terry) Dellenbach; five nephews; three nieces; five great-nieces; three great-nephews; one great-great-niece; along with many other relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur "Web" Plowman.
A Memorial Service for Evelyn will be held at 1:30 PM. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupaca. A visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 PM until the time of service.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Angie and Courtney with Compassus Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion they showed Evelyn and her family during her final journey.
