Joan Pomerening-Hanson
Faith was my loving Godmother in the extended farm home where I was born soon after she started college. She and Ray invited me on family vacations when their kids were small which were fun! We took hikes and I remember eating wintergreen berries that they identified for me on nature hikes. I was able to order them from Washington state and now my Grandkids can enjoy them too. She helped me learn to sew for 4-H and I was a reluctant learner, but during the pandemic, before vaccines, I was able to sew masks that were as safe as N-95’s. I only found out about her network of sewing friends when I attended a Conference in Madison just a few years ago. Women and girls are rare in this Pomerening family. All of us are invested in “Pay it forward” careers and activities because of our farm family background where we survived by working and playing and praying together. Thanks Aunt Faith-you are the lone Cardinal singing in my yard each day now. 😇
