Frank W. Martin
Pine River, WI
age 94 – died on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Berlin Memorial Hospital in Berlin, WI. He was born on May 1, 1915 in Auroraville, WI, the son of William and Bertha (Janke) Martin. He married Elizabeth “Liz” L. Werch in Dubuque, IA, and they were together for 72 years.
Frank is survived by his wife; Liz, daughter; Peggy (Jerry) Klimke of Wautoma, son; Robert (Sue) Martin of Berlin, four grandchildren; Carla (Daren) Plantz, Todd (Melissa) Klimke, Rebecca (Jon) Hoffman, and Robert Martin, Jr., and six great grandchildren; Megan, Logan, Tyler, Sophie, Jane, and Grace. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Harriet Luhn, and three brothers; Hiram, Bernard, and Mike Martin.
Frank had served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was honorably discharged in November of 1945. He had farmed in the Poy Sippi area for most of his life.
A memorial service will be held at the Poy Sippi United Methodist Church in Poy Sippi on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend George Groves, officiating. Military honors followed by interment will be in the Poy Sippi Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be held at the Poy Sippi United Methodist Church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. The Holly Funeral Home of Poy Sippi, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
