Age 72 – died on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, WI. He was born on June 9, 1937 in Wild Rose, WI, the son of Kenneth and Lucille (Williams) Eastman. He married Judith DeBruin on March 14, 1964 in Almond, WI.
Franklin is survived by his wife, Judith, children; Caroline Eastman of Almond, Timothy Eastman of Almond, and Patricia (Wally) Tomczak of Iola, grandchildren; Andrew Gneist, Whitney Tomczak, Christopher Eastman, Jesse Gneist, Brandon Eastman, Mallory Tomczak, and Katelyn Wilund, brothers; Richard (Maureen) Eastman of Wautoma, and Neil (Doris) Eastman of Almond, and sisters; Adora (Merle) Turner of Almond, and Marieta (Jeff) Huff of Kenosha. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by two infant sons; Daniel and Edward, and his parents.
Franklin was raised on a farm near Parfreyville in Waupaca County until the age of eight. His family then moved to a farm near Almond. He farmed near Blaine in Portage County until he started working at the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Nekoosa, WI. He had been employed with the paper mill for over thirty two years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Almond United Methodist Church and had been chairman of the Trustees for many years. He was also a member of the Rod and Gun Club of Almond. Franklin had many interests including hunting, fishing, camping, and doing crossword puzzles. He was also a Civil War enthusiast.
A funeral service will be held at the Almond United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend David Leistra – Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the First Belmont Cemetery, Township of Belmont, Portage County, WI. A visitation will be held at the Almond United Methodist Church on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Almond United Methodist Church Trustees in the name of Franklin R. Eastman. The Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
