Freddie "Fritz" Fett's Obituary
Fred “Fritz” Fett passed away on February 26, 2022 after a battle with cancer. He was born August 2, 1944 in Frederick, Oklahoma to the late John and Virginia (Popkin) Fett. Fritz graduated from Evergreen Park High School in Evergreen Park, Illinois in 1961 and Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1965. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Fritz taught English and was involved in the Theatre Program at Niles West and Niles North High Schools in Skokie, Illinois for eleven years in the late 60’s and 70’s. He left teaching; bought a business, sold it, and entered into a career in sales which lasted for almost twenty-five years for various organizations. In 2001 he accepted early retirement from AT&T. As a member of the Glenview Community Church, Fritz sang in the choir, was member of the Music Board and directed the Maundy Thursday pageant. He also enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and working on cars when they still had carburetors.
Fritz is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lynn (Blank), daughter Susan Virginia (Jonathan) Kanner of Arlington Heights, Illinois and granddaughter, Amalthea “Molly” Rose. His older daughter Catherine Rose preceded him in death in 2014. He is also survived by his sister Janet Spayth of Wheaton, Illinois and his brother John Alan Fett of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
A private family service will be held in New Orleans at a later date. Cremation has taken place. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
