Frederick (Fritz) W. Lemke's Obituary
Frederick (Fritz) W. Lemke, age 87, of Stevens Point, WI formally of Almond passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family under the care of Ministry Home Hospice. Fred was born in Town of Dayton, Waupaca County on February 21, 1923 the son of the late Max and Molly (Pommerenke) Lemke. On October 21, 1944 Fred married Louise McGinley in Plainfield. This year they celebrated 66 years of marriage. Fred retired from Swan Oil Co. in Almond in 1988. He then worked for Johnson Farms, Inc. in Almond until 1999. He loved spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events and watching the Packers and the Brewers. His hobby was woodworking and he signed his projects Phred. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Almond. Fred is survived by his wife: Louise Lemke, Stevens Point; his children: Linda Hershberger, Stevens Point; Candy (Bill) Lamb, Almond; Debra (Lowell-Bing) Getzloff, Bancroft and Brenda (fiance' Dale Bohn) McIntee, Almond. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren(with one on the way) 2 sister in laws, Jackie & Lois Lemke and many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, 2 granddaughters, a great granddaughter, his son in law, Don Hershberger, 2 brothers, Marvin & William Lemke and a sister, Dorothy King. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday, October 28, at 11 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Almond with Vicar Brian Roehrborn, officiating Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 PM at the CHURCH. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Almond. Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.
