I heard sometime in the last few years that Fred died. As a child, while he was imprisoned in Vietnam, my family spent a lot of time with his wife Ginny McKee Flom, and their kids Julie and Eric. Some people referred to us together as the Flomases.
I wore Fred's POW bracelet for a few years, but it's been lost since. I remember watching on National Television when he returned, as they announced each name as the men came off the plane, and both my parents started crying. I admired his strength and the way he overcame this trauma.
Julie, if you ever read this, my condolences. You had to deal with too much at too young an age. All my love and thoughts.
