Gary A. Dougherty's Obituary
Gary A. Dougherty age 71, passed away on Wednesday March 12, 2025. Gary was born on June 10, 1953, the son of Edward and Eleanora (Mausling) Dougherty. Gary graduated from Ely High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Gary became a railroad engineer at Reserve Mining Company, then worked for Measurex and the Dupont Company before returning to the railroad and joining the Fox River Valley Railroad Company in Appleton, WI. After retiring from the railroad industry, he started his second career as a EMT with the Clintonville area ambulance service. Gary then retired to Northern Minnesota, eventually moving into Care Free Assisted Living in Babbitt, MN, later moving to the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI to be closer to his grandchildren. Gary’s love for the outdoors was prevalent in his life, spending his time fishing and hunting. In his life, Gary served in numerous capacities with the Boy Scouts of America and his Church.
Gary is survived by his children Angela Dougherty of Kaukauna, WI and John (Vicky) Dougherty of Little Chute, WI; his grandchildren Joshua, Tessa and Paul; his brothers Dale (Nancy) Dougherty and Scott Dougherty; his sister Wanda Grebenc and many other relatives and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Eleanora Dougherty; his wife Bonnie Dougherty; his sister Dawn Dougherty; his nephew Brandon Dougherty; his great niece Kendra Folstad; his uncle Kenneth Triggs and his aunt Agatha Triggs.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday May 17, 2025 at Argo Cemetery in Babbitt, MN. The Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
