Gary L. Behnke's Obituary
Gary L. Behnke, age 62, of Waupaca, WI, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Crystal River Nursing & Rehab. Center. Gary was born in New London, WI on March 29, 1947, the son of the late Leonard W. and Darlyne (Tyrrell) Behnke. Gary served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam during a period of March 1968 to October 1968. On March 9, 1968, Gary married Marlene Maier in Madison, WI. He is a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. Gary is survived by his wife: Marlene Behnke, Waupaca, WI; his children: Tom (Ameleah) Behnke, New Lenox, IL and Sally (Kyle Kenney) Behnke, Ogdensburg, WI; his five Grandchildren: April, Sam, Luke; Sarah & Ben and his sister: Gail (Jerome) Stephany, Lomira, WI and sister-in-law: Betty (Glenn) Fedkenheuer, Sun Prairie, WI. The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 10:30 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church , 8611 State Hwy 54 Between Plover & Waupaca with Father Daniel Farley, officiating. Military Graveside Services will be in Little Wolf Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday eve. from 5 to 9 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. In lieu of flowers, memorials greatly appreciated to the Waupaca Area Food Pantry, E908 County Rd. V, Scandinavia, WI 54977.
