Very sorry to hear about Gary. I worked with him many years at Ding's Dock. Gary was a quiet man who led by example through his hard work. Because of this, he had the respect of everyone who worked with him. I will think of Gary on every future trip to "the dock".
He was a quiet and private individual, but I could share many stories regarding Gary. We got to know each other quite well, having had many conversations during lulls in canoe traffic, "down by the river" (Ding's Dock Landing). We kept in touch with each other over the years. Hardest worker I have ever known. He will be missed.
Gary and I had a number of classes together but Bookkeeping stands out. My inability to keep debits and credits straight was a constant source of humor to Gary. It was so bad that he even brought it up again when he signed my yearbook. Because he was always quiet and gentle, it made me laugh as well. I also enjoyed playing cards at lunch with Gary. I understand he was just as gentle his entire, short life. To his family I am so sorry.
