Gene R. (Abe) Abrahamson
Waupaca, WI Age 67, passed away on January 13, 2009, at Hospice Family Care in Casa Grande, Arizona (winter residence). Gene was born on September 8, 1941. He was the son of Morris and Olinda (Isaacson) Abrahamson. He married Darlene Schoohs on March 8, 1969. Gene served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at the Waupaca Foundry for 40 years, retiring in 2003. He was a volunteer fireman with the Waupaca Fire Department for 33 years. He had also been a fire inspector with the Waupaca Fire Department. Gene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Waupaca, and an associate member of Central Lutheran Church, Arizona City, Arizona. Gene is survived by his wife, Darlene; his daughters: Angie (Steve) Morgan, Scandinavia, Lorie (Trav) Hardy, Butte des Morts; granddaughter, Morgan Hardy; sister and brother-in-law, Dodge and Leah Brooks, Fremont; and nephew, Ron (Terri) Brooks and family, Waupaca. Gene is further survived by an aunt, cousins and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Casey. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 206 E. Badger Street, Waupaca, with Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. Visitation will be at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and can be directed to the Gene Abrahamson Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 184, Scandinavia, WI 54977, to be distributed to various charities. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements. Thank you to family and friends for your love and support.
