Age 84 – died on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Wild Rose Manor in Wild Rose, WI. He was born on March 20, 1927 in Chicago, IL, the son of George and Lillian (Johnson) Essenmacher. He married Gladys Lemons on February 12, 1972 in Chicago, IL.
George is survived by his wife: Gladys, children: Mary (Bill) Close of Chicago, Mike (Maria) Essenmacher of Franklin Park, IL, and John Essenmacher of Chicago, IL, step-children: Kathie (Steve) Zwyczak of Wild Rose, and David (Lisa) Benge of Wylie, TX. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother, and step-children: Donald Baker and Jennifer Benge.
George had worked in Chicago as an auto body repairman for many years. He had served his country in the US Army during WW II. George had a number of interests including woodworking, painting portraits in both water color and oil paints, and drawing pictures using charcoal. George also loved dogs.
A memorial service will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose, WI on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM, with Reverend Yul Kwon – Pastor, officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
