George B. Moore
King, WI (Formerly of Byron, IL) Age 88 – died on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI. He was born on October 26, 1920 in Bloomington, IL, the son of Charles and Sylvia (Reeder) Moore. He married Lois Yvonne Thompson of Lexington, IL on December 30, 1944 in Normal, IL. George is survived by his wife Lois, daughter Patricia (Joseph) Adkins of Westfield, WI, son Douglas (Linda) Moore of Owatonna, MN, and son-in-law Terry Seabold of Byron, IL, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a brother Donald (Mildred) Moore of Aniwa, WI. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Seabold, his parents, and a brother Charles Moore. George had served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II. He was a member of the Christian Church in Normal, IL. He had earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. He had taught at all grade levels, specializing in vocational education. George had raised miniature horses and had received national recognition in the show ring. He and his miniature horses had also been featured on national television. His miniature horse farm and petting zoo in Neillsville, WI was called Grandpa’s Playpen. A memorial service will be held at the Main Chapel of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 1:30 PM, with Chaplain Tracy Hamelink, officiating. Interment will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, WI. A visitation will be held from 12:30 – 1:30 PM on Friday at the Main Chapel at King, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the American Cancer Society in memory of George B. Moore. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
