GEORGE JAMES WOOD
WAUPACA, WISCONSIN Age 91 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 surrounded by his family at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI. He was born March 6, 1915 in Waupaca, WI; son of Corry and Edith (Rasmussen) Wood. George served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific on the USS Yorktown during WWII from July 5, 1943 until December 14, 1945. On September 2, 1940, George married Louise Nelson at Parfreyville United Methodist Church in the Town of Dayton, Waupaca Co., WI. She preceded him in death on December 27, 1985. George enjoyed wood-working, especially making birdhouses. He also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and playing pool. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waupaca. George is survived by:

Sister-in-law: Marjorie Stiebs of Waupaca, WI
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Louise Wood, and his brother, Kenneth Wood. A Funeral Service will be on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Reverend Michael J.N. Weigand will officiate. A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Parfreyville Cemetery in the Town of Dayton.
