Gerald "Gerry" W. Halbach's Obituary
Gerald “Gerry” William Halbach, 59, passed away on October 14, 2023.
Gerry was born at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton, Wisconsin on June 16, 1964, one of eleven children, to William and Joyce (Johnson) Halbach. He grew up in St. John, where he attended parochial school at St. John - Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Hilbert High School in 1982. Though Gerry had an interest in sports, and spent some time playing baseball, he poured most of his time into afterschool and weekend jobs, working for nearby farms. His hard work ethic and ambition soon drove him to enlist in the U.S. Navy in July 1982, where he then served his time in San Diego, California, as a Boiler Technician on the U.S.S. Stein, spending multiple deployments in the Western Pacific. In January 1988, after six years of honorable service, Gerry returned home to St. John, Wisconsin where he spent the following two decades working in the industrial and supply chain settings across Wisconsin and Kentucky.
Beyond his work, Gerry was a father to five and grandfather to seven, to whom he loved and prided deeply.
Gerry will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, deep belly laughs, his ear-to-ear smile, and his love for hunting, fishing, football, and a good card game. With his generous and forgiving nature, pure heart of gold, and massive bear hugs, he left a lasting impression on everyone he came across.
He is survived by his Children: Brandy Halbach (Ryan), Amanda Reseburg (Dan), Lisa (David) McCarthy, Erika Halbach, and Garrett Halbach; his Grandchildren: Cory Stancer, Elijah Stancer, Rowen Onkels, Hannah Reseburg, Abbigail Reseburg, Madeline McCarthy, and Samuel McCarthy; his Mother, Joyce (Johnson) Halbach; his Siblings, Margaret (Frank) Schwalbach, Daniel (Ann) Halbach, Elizabeth (David) Neuber, Mary Halbach, Anna (Russell) Meyers, Terrance (Stephanie) Halbach, Clare Grignon, Michelle Frane (Bruce), and Maureen (Brad) Loose. He is further survived by countless other family and friends who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his Father: William R. Halbach; Brother: Paul R. Halbach, Grandparents: Raymond & Mary "Mayme" Halbach; William & Ann Johnson, and many other family members.
