I am saddened to hear of Dr.Chappell's passing and want to offer my condolences to all of his family. While you mourn his loss please know that I will value my experiences with him in the future just as I have these past 40 years. He was a gentleman, teacher, scholar and supportive friend who exemplified the qualities all of us "professors" seek but few of us really achieve. All of the things I needed to know about teaching and writing were demonstrated by him and readily available to me. All I had to do was ask, or remember. He always wanted to know if "I'd done any more writing". I know that his work will live on in all of us, his students. We were lucky to have him.
