GERALD “JERRY” R. SWEET
KING, WISCONSIN
FORMERLY OF KESHENA
Age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI. He was born April 19, 1935 in Waukesha, WI; son of Hallard and Ida (Oleson) Sweet. Jerry served in the U.S. Army from January 1958 – December 1959 during the Vietnam War. On August 12, 1961, Jerry married Susan J. Ossmann at First Presbyterian Church in Waukesha, WI. He will be deeply missed by all of his loving family and many, many friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife: Susan Sweet of Keshena, WI; two daughters: Terri (Bret) Hughes of Bonduel, WI and Renee Birkholz of Keshena, WI; grandchildren: Lynn (David) Pyatskowit of Shawano, WI, Laurie (Roger) Banaszynski of Cecil, WI, Craig Birkholz of Bonduel, WI, and Stacy (special friend, Tom Herman) Birkholz of Bonduel, WI; three great-grandchildren: Alex, Kesaehsa, and Stormie; two brothers: Art (special friend, Shirley) Sweet of Waukesha, WI and Norman (Diane) Sweet of Friendship, WI; and a brother-in-law: Jack (Suzanne) Ossmann of Gillett, WI. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hallard and Ida Sweet, and a sister and brother-in-law, Delores (Jack) Furrer.
A Memorial Service will be on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 1:30 PM at the Main Chapel at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. Chaplain Rich Engle will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday from 12:30 – 1:30 PM at the Main Chapel in King. Burial will be at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
