GERTRUDE “GERTIE” M. PESKIE
AMHERST, WISCONSIN Age 73, peacefully moved on with the angels to new life on Sunday, September 4, 2011. She was born August 28, 1938 in the Town of Stockton, Portage Co., WI; daughter of Ambrose A. and Agnes (Cieslewicz) Somers. On October 12, 1963, Gertie married Donald E. Peskie at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church – Fancher. She was a member of many organizations including St. Mary PCCW, Dale City Arts & Crafts Club, Parkinson’s Support Group of Stevens Point and Appleton, the Wisconsin Miata Club, and the BMW Car Club. Gertie enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, polka dancing, arts and crafts, noodle making, doll collecting, coin collecting, traveling, sharing the fruits of her gardens to all, and was always a help to friends in need. But, above all, Gertie cherished her deep love for her granddaughter, Rayne. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. Gertie is survived by:

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Agnes Somers; her son, Karl Peskie; a brother, Daniel Somers; and two sisters, Anita Kruzitski and Barbara Somers. A special thank-you to Ministry Home Care Hospice Services of Stevens Point for the many services provided to our family throughout the past months. Also, we would like to thank Debbie and Ashley of Recover Health in Waupaca for all of their help and support as full-time caregivers to Gertie. The special care Gertie received will never be forgotten. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church – Fancher in Amherst, WI. Father Raymond Pedretti will preside. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery following the mass on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the ALS Association (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Attn: Jennifer A.
