Gladys, Mrs. Pershing Petersen's Obituary
Mrs. Gladys D. Petersen, age 84, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, August 4, 2006, at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. Gladys was born in Wausau, Wisconsin, on February 28, 1922; she was the daughter of the late Carl W. and Olga S. (Gyldentorp) Christensen. On September 28, 1946, she married Pershing Petersen in Wausau. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2004. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waupaca. Gladys worked as an Office Clerk at the Wisconsin Veterans Home for over 20 years. She was very active in the Riverside Medical Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and the Waupaca Garden Club. Gladys especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by a daughter, Carla (Tim) Hales, Waupaca; son, Brian Petersen, California; granddaughter, Jacci Houtman, Ogdensburg; grandson, Joe Hales, Waupaca; great-grandchildren: Reuben Hales, Natasha Hales, Cody Houtman, Josh Houtman, sister, Joyce Collins, Lancaster, PA. Gladys was preceded in death by brothers: Gordon, Edward and Werner Christensen and sister, Ruth Wallace. Funeral Service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Waupaca at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, with Reverend Cathy J.N. Weigand officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Memorial Park Waupaca, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
