Gladys Irene Zempel's Obituary
Gladys I. Zempel, 91, of Waupaca, passed away at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Waupaca, on June 1, 2016. Gladys was born on June 18, 1924, daughter of the late Aaron and Esther (Jacobson) Moran. On March 10, 1942, Gladys was united in marriage to the love of her life, William "Bill" Zempel.
Gladys loved reading, bird-watching, cooking & baking, gardening, and crocheting, and took great pride in sewing quilts and knitting afghans that she donated to crisis pregnancy centers.
Gladys is survived by: sons Larry (Sharon) Zempel and Ron (Lynn) Zempel; daughters Deborah Kottke and Jolene Gassen; daughter-in-law Jane Zempel; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Esther Suhs and Marguerite Zempel. Gladys is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son Thomas; daughter Lori; and brothers Donald and Robert Moran.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 6, 2016, at First Baptist Church - Waupaca, with Rev. Larry G. Gross officiating. Relatives and friends may visit the family at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Interment will be at Crystal Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the First Baptist Christian School are appreciated.
