Gordon John Lamberty's Obituary
Gordon John (Gordy) Lamberty passed away on July 3, 2026, with his wife by his side, after a courageous three year battle with pancreatic cancer. Gordy was a kind and gentle man and will be missed. He was born on October 4, 1955 and as soon as he could walk, he helped work the family dairy farm in Pine Bluff. Eventually Gordy and his brother Jim took over the entire operation and bought the farm from their mother in 1990. As the years wore on the farm changed from dairy to beef to raising heifers at the end.
Gordy’s early goal in life was to leave the world a better place than when he came into it. To accomplish that life goal, he chose to improve the farm and serve his community. He was born into Catholic Financial Insurance Society Branch 296 of Mount Horeb which his grandfather, John Schlimgen, started. He served as an officer over 35 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3924 of Cross Plains for many years and an officer there for 17 of those years. Gordy loved working with “Mother Nature” and was a lifetime member of the Mount Horeb FFA Alumni, serving as an officer for many years. He purchased and then renovated a trailer into a food stand to serve at farm auctions to raise money both for the FFA and the Schlimgen Family Relay for Life team, of which he was a proud member. A good Catholic man, he was a member of St. Mary of Pine Bluff Catholic Church where he met his soulmate and best friend, Vicky Skilondz, and then married her on April 17, 2010. They later became members of St. Francis Catholic Church in Cross Plains. He served as chairman and/or worker for both these churches in their
fundraising efforts.
The most meaningful place Gordy served was when he volunteered and was honored to wear the uniform and turn out gear of the Mount Horeb Fire/EMS Department for 13 years. During that time, he was an ambulance driver and first responder for the Pine Bluff/Riley area. He worked his way up and became the EMS inventory specialist and Foreman of Rescue 38 until he retired. He considered FDMH his second family.
The family farm was sold in 2017. Gordy and Vicky retired and moved to rural Iola where he enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking, latch hooking, fishing, gardening, yard work, sitting on the deck and watching the deer, turkeys, hawks, eagles, black bears and other critters.
Gordy was proceeded in death by both his parents, Harley and Marie Lamberty, mother-in-law, Mary Skilondz, and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving wife Vicky, and his brother Jim (Katy) Lamberty of Mount Horeb. Special thanks to Aspirus (St. Michael’s) Hospital Oncology Team for their professional yet loving care and to Heartland Hospice.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 10th at 1 p.m. at the St. Ignatius Calvary Cemetery, 9418 County Rd S, Mount Horeb. The public is invited. Since Gordy’s favorite color was blue, please consider wearing something blue in his memory. Arrangements will be made through AJ Holly & Sons Funeral Home, Waupaca. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Mount Horeb Fire/EMS Department Membership Fund. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.
