AMHERST, WISCONSIN Age 72, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2008 at his home in Amherst under the care of Ministry at Home Hospice of Stevens Point, WI. He was born December 17, 1935 in the Town of Lanark, WI; son of Valentine and Isabelle (Tetzloff) Jacowski. Greg attended Madley Grade School. He graduated from Amherst High School and after graduating he worked for four years at Fischer Body in Janesville, WI. Greg then went to work for 14 years at Allen Bradley in Milwaukee, WI. In 1958, he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1960.
On May 7, 1960, Greg married Anita Megal, and they resided in Milwaukee until 1970 before they moved back to rural Amherst to take over the Megal farm. Greg worked at UWSP in the custodial department for 28 years until his retirement in 1998.
Greg was an avid sports fan. He played baseball for the Lanark Baseball Team for 10 years, the Sunday Club Orlow Softball Team for 15 years, and also played on the Tuesday night softball team in the Amherst park. After active ball, he watched all ages of softball in the park and more recently had to give in to watching all sports on TV; baseball, basketball, football, and golf.
When he could no longer play baseball, he became obsessed with the game of golf, playing as often as he could, even playing as many as 36 holes a day! He also loved to dance and listen to polka music. His favorites were Romy Gosz, Frankie Yankovic, and the Polka Stars. Greg will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he impressed along the road of life. Greg is survived by:
