Harleigh A. Firkus' Obituary
Harleigh Ann Firkus, 15, Amherst, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, January 4th, 2019 at Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, WI.
Harleigh was born on August 20th, 2003 in Stevens Point. She is the daughter of Shane Firkus, Iola and Stacey Firkus, Amherst. Harleigh was enrolled as a sophomore at Amherst High School, where she excelled in her academic studies and attended religious classes at St. James Catholic Church, Amherst. Harleigh also assisted the coaching staff for the Amherst Falcons football team, volunteered at Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital and worked occasionally for the Amherst Spirit Store.
She truly enjoyed cross-fit training and weight-lifting under the supervision and assistance from a very special coach, Doug Spadoni, whom Harleigh often spoke so highly of, and attending all of the Amherst Falcons football games. She also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting with her father, shopping, and going to the hair and nail salon with her mother and sister.
Harleigh will be sadly missed by her parents; sister, Presley Jo Firkus; paternal grandparents, Roger and Jan Firkus of Custer; maternal grandparents, Sherry and Ron Peters of Mosinee and Michael Ciesielski of Bancroft; and also, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11th, 2019 at the Amherst High School, 357 N. Main Street, Amherst, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. A visitation will be on Saturday, January 12th, 2019 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 3995 County Road K, Amherst (Fancher), from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Father Dan Hackel and Father Gregory Michaud, presiding. A memorial has been established in the name of Harleigh A. Firkus. Online condolences may be shared at hollyfuneralhome.com. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
We will always remember Harleigh for her loving and caring personality, her beautiful smile, long eye lashes, and her enthusiasm for life that touched so many.
