Harold Peterson's Obituary
Harold Carl Peterson, age 89, formerly of Amherst and Waupaca, WI., passed away on Friday, February 8th, 2008 at Rosalia Gardens under the loving care of LeRoyer Hospice in Antigo, WI. Harold was born on September 1, 1918, on a farm south of Amherst, WI. His parents were the late Charles Peterson and Amelia (Sandau) Peterson. He married Eva I. Hansen on August 8, 1942, in Waupaca. Harold was a dedicated dairy farmer who took great pride in his crops, in preserving his land through conservation practices and in building a distinguished registered Holstein herd with his son, John. Their farming operation and commitment to Ford trucks and tractors were recognized by the Ford Motor Company in its advertisements in farm publications. Harold began farming on the family farm in the Town of Lanark, and in 1965 purchased a large farm north of Waupaca which was expanded over the years in partnership with his son, John. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Eva, include their daughter: Carol (John) Woody, Antigo, WI; a son: Dale (Julie) Peterson, Middleton, WI; Grandchildren: Jeff (Carla) Woody, LaCrosse, WI; Julie (Dave) Bauknecht, Antigo, WI; Brandon Peterson, Scottsdale, AZ; Matt (Katie) Peterson, Salt Lake City, UT; Brett Peterson, Stevens Point, WI; David Peterson, Middleton, WI and Alex and Ellen Peterson, Middleton, WI; Great Grandchildren: Sara, Megan and Andrea Woody; Michalie, Mackenzie and Madilyn Bauknecht; a brother: Walter Peterson, Amherst, WI; a sister: Ruth Johnson, Stevens Point, WI.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Harold is preceded in death by his son and farming partner, John, who passed away in 1983; infant son, Gary Lynn; sisters, Lucille (Carl) Madsen and Fern (Harold) Felbinger. Harold and Eva resided at Pine Meadow Retirement Center in Antigo during the past two years, with daughter, Carol, providing attentive nursing care. A memorial service will be held at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 12th, 2008, with Reverend Mark Sabin, officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial will take place at a later date at the Lower Amherst Cemetery. Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
