Harriet R. Kussman's Obituary
Harriet (Krueger) Kussman, age 106 of Amherst, WI died on July 7, 2014 at Iola Living Assistance nursing home after a long life, well lived.
Harriet was born May 22, 1908 in the Town of Nepeuskun, Winnebago County WI to Edward and Blanche (Woodman) Krueger. She married Otto Kussman (son of Frederick and Pauline (Degner) Kussman) on August 22, 1938 in Berlin, WI.
Harriet obtained her teaching credentials from Green Lake County Normal and UW-Oshkosh. She taught in elementary schools in Green Lake County, Rhinelander and Portage County. She also spent 15 years at home raising children and helping her husband on the farm. Harriet was active in church and community work as well as compiling several family genealogies.
Harriet is survived by two children, Paul (Patricia) Kussman, Amherst and Alinda (Robert) Nelson, Waunakee: three grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, Terri (Greg) Barth and their children Mason and Mallori Barth of Marshfield, Tyler (Suzanne Mueller) Nelson and their children Amber, Mercedes and Jaida Murphy and Elliot Nelson of Waunakee, Blake (Angie) Nelson and their daughter Reese Nelson of Sun Prairie and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, in-laws, and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Burton Krueger, her sister-in-laws, Hazel (Russell) Krogwold, Loretta Kussmann, and Mildred (Linden) Hansel, her brother-in-laws, Allen (Regina) Kussman, and Arthur (Clyde) Kussman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. July 10th at the Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. Pastor Gretchen Anderson will officiate, with burial to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday July 9th from 4-7 p.m. at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst and again at the church from 10:00 until the time of service.
