Harry Lynn Shabino's Obituary
Harry Lynn Shabino, age 88, of Waupaca, WI, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Weyauwega Health Care Center. Harry was born in Oak Park, IL on March 26, 1920, the son of the late Charles Rayman and Olive (Methot) Shabino. As a child he lived in Wilmette, IL graduating from Stoph School in Wilmette and New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL. Harry attended the UW-Madison where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He was on both his high school and college swim teams. On July 18, 1942 Harry married May Farmer, also of Wilmette, IL. They moved to Joliet, IL where he worked at the Kankakee Dupont plant before being called into service by the US Navy. During WWII, Harry served as a radio technician on the battleship US New Jersey for a year and a half. After his military service was completed, he and May lived in West Bend where Harry owned Mac Shab's Men's Store for 21 years, worked for B. C. Ziegler for 6 years and Blunt, Ellis & Loewi in West Bend for 21 years. Harry retired on April 15, 1987. While in West Bend, Harry was very active in JC's, West Bend Business Association, West Bend Rotary and a 46 year member and Past President of West Bend Country Club. In 1992, he and his wife, May moved to Round Lake on the Chain O' Lakes in Waupaca. Harry is survived by his wife of 66 years, May Shabino of Waupaca; his children, Charles L. (Diane) Shabino of Wausau; J. Gary (Judy) Shabino of Barrington, IL; John (Skee) (Elizabeth) Shabino of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and Elizabeth (Brian) Verhagen of Waupaca. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Peter, Patrick, Carrie (Jonathon), Kristy (Ben), Jeff (Katherine), John, Nick, Max and Samantha and 3 great grandchildren, Brittany Anne, Erin Margaret and Molly Maie Shabino. Memorial Services will be on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 12 Noon at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with Reverend Frederick Lueders, officiating. Visitation will be on Weds. morning from 11 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Harry's name. Harry is the most honest, polite, kind, peaceful, content man that ever lived and that's why I love him. He loved symphonic music, nature and sunsets. A very private person, he believed in God but not formal worship. He had his own values. He will be missed by all.
