Harry Thoms Jr's Obituary
Harry W. Thoms Jr., age 74, of Waupaca, WI, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. Harry was born in Greenfield, WI on May 18, 1933, the son of the late Harry W. and Viola (Schuttenhelm) Thoms. On April 19, 1958, Harry married Jacqueline Wafler in Milwaukee. Harry was a Police Officer with the City of Milwaukee for 30 years. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and was the Chairman of the Town of Dayton for the past 15 years. Harry was extremely involved in community and county government and volunteered many hours at the Wisconsin Veterans Home. He is a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Community in Waupaca. Harry is survived by his wife: Jacqueline Thoms of Waupaca; his children: Duane (Sue) Thoms of Brookfield, WI; Renee (Larry) Miszewski of Rhinelander, WI; Laura (John) Richter of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Melinda (Robert) Derus of Black River Falls, WI. Harry is the greatest Grandpa to: Michael, Amanda; Steven, Rebecca; Alicia, Nathan; Jessie & Ashley. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Warren. The Funeral Mass will be at 12 Noon on Monday, August 20, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with Father Paul Vanden Hogan, officiating. Burial with Full Military Rites will follow at Parfreyville Cemetery, Town of Dayton. Visitation will be on Monday morning from 10 AM until the time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Harry's name.
