Hazel Solberg's Obituary
HAZEL L. SOLBERG
WAUPACA, WI. Age 82 - died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at the Appleton Medical Center following a short illness, with her family was at her side. She was born on May 30, 1922 in the Township of Harrison, Waupaca County, WI, a daughter of the late Harry and Hattie (Bucholtz) Helgeson. She married Myron Solberg on July 27, 1944 in Northland, WI. Hazel is survived by her husband, Myron “Mike” Solberg, Sr., three sons: Myron “Mick” (Mary) Solberg, Jr. of Waupaca, Robert (Mary Jo) Solberg of Waupaca, and Lee (Paula) Solberg of Waupaca, five grandchildren: Kathleen (Tom) Winghart of River Falls, Michelle Solberg of Madison, Ryan Solberg of Iola, Jamie Lee Solberg of Waupaca, and Michael Solberg of Waupaca, three great grandchildren: Megan Marie Winghart, Hunter Thomas Winghart, and Parker Andrew Winghart, four sisters: Bertha Jenson of Waupaca, Inga Grove of Iola, Edna Tschurwald of Iola, and Phyllis (Lloyd) Solberg of West Allis, and a special niece: Gloria Greenwood of St. Louis, MO. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law: Marjorie Solberg, four sisters: Edith, Ruby, Vernice, and Gladys, and three brothers: Charles, Alvin, and Eugene. Hazel was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Waupaca and had been a member of the former Hannah Circle at Trinity Lutheran Church. She had been employed at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI for about 18 years, retiring in about 1980. She had worked in the food service and housekeeping departments. She had also been a former member of the Iola Chapter of the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed gardening, doing embroidery work, and playing cards. She also enjoyed baking cookies for her family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI with the Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. Interment will be in the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, WI. Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Thursday, March 17, 2005 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, and at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated in the name of Hazel L. Solberg. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
